Our most passionate, time-consuming, and well-edited writing is all too often unread by other human beings. I'm talking, of course, about cover letters that didn't land us a job. I think it's a shame that writing of this caliber is often ignored, and I'm trying to put together a local open mic event where we change that. Just as Mortified allows us to share a laugh about our childhood and adolescent pain through an individual's reading, I feel that sharing our most polished writing about the best versions of ourselves that were still ignored can be humorous, poignant, and relatable.
