I've performed in front of people before and hosted performances, but I've never planned an event like this from the beginning, so this is a little awkward. As far as I can tell, here is the plan:
1. Confirm 10 readers and 20ish audience members.
2. Sit down with local venue managers and tell them the premise of Cover Letter Comedy, the amount of performers interested, and the audience they can expect from such an event. Ideally I will be able to secure drink tickets for performers, but as this is a brand new event, I'm not holding my breath. Secure a venue and a date and time.
3. Once the date, time, and venue is determined, publicize the event locally.
4. Recognize all performers and their hard work at the end of the show.
5. Repeat!
Of course, I need your help to make this happen. Please spread the word! I want you to show the world your best self.
On my end, I plan to photograph if not videotape each performance, enforce ground rules to make this an enjoyable experience for all, and listen to your suggestions on how we can make our disappointments into a success. You can opt out of being photographed or videotaped at any time with no questions asked.
